Israel’s decision: Following the cessation of aid to Gaza last week, Israel has decided to cut off electricity to the war-torn territory.
Israeli Energy Minister Eli Cohen announced the power outage in Gaza, according to a foreign news agency cited by private TV channel Jeunes. Israel’s decision to shut off electricity to Gaza was deemed unacceptable by Hamas, who referred to the action as blackmail and claimed that Israel was using it to coerce the release of captives.
In contrast, an Israeli delegation is scheduled to arrive in Doha, the capital of Qatar, today to discuss the second phase of the ceasefire deal in Gaza.
US Ambassador Adam Boehler stated that while the US acknowledges Israel’s concerns regarding the Hamas negotiations, this agreement will allow for the release of all Palestinians, not only Americans.
