NEPRA has approved the government’s request to reduce electricity prices by Rs 1.71 per unit, NEPRA has transferred the decision to reduce electricity prices to the civil government.
According to the decision, the reduction in electricity prices will be applicable from April to June 2025, and the reduction in electricity prices will be applicable to consumers across the country, including K- Electric. The decision transferred by NEPRA said that the reduction in electricity prices won’t apply to lifeline consumers.
It should be flashed back that the civil government had submitted a request to NEPRA to reduce electricity prices by Rs 1.71 per unit, while NEPRA heard the civil government’s request on April 4.
The civil government had increased the petroleum tax on petrol and high-speed diesel by Rs 10 per liter last month, while the government had decided to give relief to the public in the form of a reduction in the price of electricity in the form of petroleum tax.
Before, electricity was reduced by Rs 1.90 per unit for consumers across the country, including Karachi, as part of a daily adaptation.
It should be noted that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had blazoned a reduction in prices for domestic electricity consumers by Rs 7.41 per unit on April 3. After which the price of electricity per unit for all domestic consumers came Rs 38.37 per unit, and a reduction of Rs 7.59 per unit was blazoned for artificial consumers, after which the price of electricity per unit for artificial consumers came Rs 40.60 per unit.
