According to details, the announcement was made at a joint press conference held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in which Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar was present on behalf of Pakistan.

In his address, Hungarian Foreign Minister Szijjarto said that the two countries are celebrating 60 years of their diplomatic relations, and there is a need to increase cooperation in various fields. “We see Pakistan as a sincere friend, which is working seriously for regional peace,” he said.

He acknowledged the challenges Pakistan faces on the Afghan border and said that Hungary understands their complexities. Szijjarto said that since the announcement of 400 scholarships, more than 1,700 Pakistani students have applied so far, which shows the popularity of Hungarian educational programs.

At the press conference, he also confirmed that an investment protection agreement and an aviation agreement to establish direct air links between Hungary and Pakistan are being concluded soon. As a significant development, a visa-free travel agreement for diplomatic passport holders has also been reached, which will further promote official-level contacts between the two countries.
