Qatar and Egypt: Qatari and Egyptian intermediaries have presented a new offer for a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.
Qatar and Egypt, An Palestinian functionary has told the BBC that Qatari and Egyptian intercessors have presented a new offer for a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, which aims to fully end the ongoing war in Gaza.
According to the functionary, the offer includes a five- to seven-time ceasefire, the release of Palestinian captures in exchange for Israeli hostages, a formal end to the war and a complete pullout of Israeli forces from Gaza. In this regard, a high-profilen Hamas delegation is arriving in Cairo, which will include the head of the political council, Mohammed Darwish, and the main moderator, Khalil al-Hayya.
The ceasefire collapsed last month when Israel began bombing Gaza, and both sides criticized each other for the failure. There has been no response from Israel so far to the intermediaries’ new offer.
Many days agone, Hamas , Hamas rejected Israel’s offer that demanded a six-week ceasefire in exchange for a rendition. Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Saturday that he had not end the war before Hamas was fully destroyed, and all hostages returned, while Hamas insists it wants assurances of an end to the war before the hostages are released.
According to a Palestinian functionary, Hamas has indicated that it is ready to hand over the government of Gaza to a Palestinian authority that is agreed upon in the public and indigenous situations, whether it is the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank or a new executive body. Still, Netanyahu has made it clear that the Palestinian Authority, which has been out of power in Gaza since 2007, will have no part in the unborn government of Gaza.
The Palestinian functionary said that although it’s unseasonable to prognosticate any success at this stage, the current agreement trouble is “ serious ” and Hamas has shown “ extraordinary inflexibility ”. It should be noted that since October 7, 2023, 61,700 Palestinians have been martyred in Israeli attacks on Gaza, the maturity of whom are innocent women and children.
Contrarily, the Palestinian legacy in Cairo has instructed its staff to move to the Egyptian megacity of Irish, near the Rajah border, along with their families. The staff was busy arranging for the treatment of the wounded from Gaza in Egyptian hospitals and the delivery of philanthropic aid.
