Pakistan-India tense situation: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met at the Presidency House to discuss the tension with India after the Amalgam attack and the current security situation.
Pakistan-India tense situation, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazir Tarar were also present in the meeting. The meeting discussed the current security situation in view of the tension with India after the Amalgam attack. Both leaders expressed deep concern over India’s aggressive behavior and provocative statements.
A statement issued by the Presidency said that Indian behavior threatens regional peace and stability, Pakistan will never compromise on the country’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, Pakistan will give a befitting reply to any kind of aggression, the Pakistani nation is united, stands with its armed forces, and Pakistan’s armed forces are capable of giving a befitting reply to any threat or aggression. The meeting also reviewed India’s aggressive behavior and Pakistan’s response to any possible aggression.
The leaders expressed regret over the allegations leveled by the Indian leadership regarding the Amalgam attack without any investigation and said that Pakistan has been a victim of terrorism for two decades, suffering immense human and economic losses.
The international community should take notice of India’s involvement in funding and training militants in Pakistan for terrorist acts.
The President appreciated the government’s response to the baseless Indian allegations and its responsible handling of the situation. The President said that Pakistan will take all necessary steps to protect its sovereignty, territorial integrity and vital national interests at all costs.
