According to Reuters, the statement comes at a time when former US President Donald Trump claimed in a recent interview that his administration was discussing a tariff deal with China and that Chinese President Xi Jinping had called him. However, Beijing rejected these claims and accused Washington of misleading the public.
According to Reuters, although social media outlets such as Yuyuan Tiantian are not part of China’s main state media, they often issue statements consistent with the government’s position. Previously, sources such as the Global Times have been providing early reports on China’s possible actions amid trade tensions.
Trump said in a recent statement that he believed his administration had a “very good chance” of reaching an agreement with China, although the Chinese president stressed the need for action considering the changing global environment, but did not mention the United States.
