Sheikh Hasina Wajid: The family assets and bank accounts of former Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wajid have been seized by a Dhaka court.
A Dhaka court has ordered the seizure of Hasina Wajid’s home in the Dhanmondi neighborhood, known as Sudhasadhan, along with other properties that belong to her family, according to reports in the Indian media. An official reportedly stated that the court had mandated the confiscation of 124 of her family’s bank accounts. The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) requested the ruling, which was issued by Senior Special Judge Zakir Hussain Ghalib of the Dhaka Metropolitan.
Sudhasadhan was the nickname of Sheikh Hasina’s late husband, MA Wajid Mian, a nuclear scientist. Sudhasadhan is the name of the home that bears his name. According to the report, Sheikh Hasina’s property has been confiscated together with the properties of her sister Sheikh Rehana, nieces Tulip Siddique and Rizwan Mujeeb Siddique, son Sajib Wazeed Joy, and daughter Saima Wazeed Patel. The Bangladeshi Foreign Ministry formally protested Sheikh Hasina’s manufactured and misleading remarks and declarations to the Indian government on February 6. Shared on social media and other channels, these words were perceived as attempts to sow discord.
The Acting High Commissioner of India in Dhaka received a complaint note from the Bangladesh Foreign Ministry on Thursday. The memo conveyed the government of Bangladesh’s profound sorrow, disappointment, and strong displeasure that the people of Bangladesh were being distressed by such words. It should be mentioned that following fierce public outcry, Hasina Wazeed left Bangladesh last year. An interim administration led by Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus was established after Hasina, 77, fled to India.
