Under the supervision of the Saudi Supreme Council, the moon was sighted in various cities of the country yesterday evening, after which the first of Shawl was announced.
In Saudi Arabia, large gatherings for Eid al-Fitr prayers were held in the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque, where millions of people offered Eid prayers. After the Eid al-Fitr sermon, special prayers were offered for the safety and prosperity of the Islamic world.
The United Arab Emirates, where the Eid moon was being sighted through drones, has also announced that Eid will be on Sunday after receiving evidence. Similarly, Eid is today due to the sighting of the moon in Qatar. Eid is being celebrated in most Gulf countries today. Eid is also being celebrated in the US, UK, France and Turkey today.
Contrarily, Eid has been announced to be on Monday due to the moon not being sighted in Iran, Oman, Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, Australia, India and Bangladesh.
The Eid moon will be sighted in several Asian countries including Pakistan tomorrow. Earlier, it was believed that Eid would likely fall on the same day in most countries of the world, i.e. on Monday, March 31.
