Israel attacks Gaza: The Israeli army bombed the southern Gaza Strip city of Khan Younis, killing 28 Palestinians and wounding more than 70.
The daily Umm reported, citing Arab media, that the Israeli army dropped nine bunker buster bombs on the premises of the European Hospital, causing the ground to collapse, and a bus parked near the hospital to sink into the ground.
Israel claims that the target of the attack was Hamas leaders, who were allegedly in the underground command and control complex under the hospital. Palestinian sources have said that the Israeli attack attempted to kill Muhammad Sinwar, the brother of prominent Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar.
The Israeli army also bombed those transporting the wounded to the hospital, which further increased the death toll. Locals say that the landslides and bomb blasts shook the area, spreading panic inside and around the hospital.
US President Donald Trump, who is currently in Qatar on a Middle East tour, responded to the attack by saying: “The people of Gaza deserve a better future. This nightmare must end. I want peace around the world.”
