According to private TV Geo News, addressing the debate of the United Nations Disarmament Commission, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Asim Iftikhar Ahmed said that AI should be prevented from turning into a new arena of arms competition.

He said that the use of AI in the military arena could spark new arms races and destabilize the regional and global security environment.

Pakistan’s Permanent Representative Asim Iftikhar Ahmed added that it could have profound implications for global peace and security. He stressed that nuclear disarmament should be the top priority.
