The US has designated, Introduction
The US has designated, The USS Harry S. Truman, an aircraft carrier, has once again been sent to the Middle East, according to the US Navy. The development coincides with the official designation of Yemen’s Houthis as a foreign terrorist group by Washington. The aircraft carrier reverted to CENTCOM’s control this week, authorities said. After two months of combat operations, the Truman docked in Souda Bay after departing the Red Sea last month for repairs and other maintenance. It was crucial in halting Houthi attacks from Yemen at this period.
Al Arabiya claims
Al Arabiya claims that following a stop in Souda Bay, the Truman ship had to be repaired after colliding with a merchant vessel close to Port Said, Egypt. It has returned to Middle Eastern seas following repairs, and it has also been deployed in airstrikes on senior ISIS Somali fighters in Somalia. In the past, the Houthis have asserted that they had destroyed a MQ-9 Reaper drone conducting “hostile missions” within Yemeni territory. The US Air Force lost touch with a MQ-9 over the Red Sea, and an inquiry is being conducted, US defense officials informed Al Arabiya English. The US military effort against the Houthis in Yemen includes Operation Poseidon Archer, which the drone was operating under.
Conclusion
In the meantime, the Houthis were officially classified as a terrorist organization this week by the Trump administration, in accordance with an executive order that was issued soon after President Donald Trump assumed office. Given the Yemeni humanitarian catastrophe, the Biden administration had rescinded that decision. Critics claim that in an attempt to resurrect the nuclear agreement with Iran, the Biden administration reduced pressure on the Houthis. US military commanders now have more power to launch offensive strikes against the Houthis as a result of Trump’s decision.
