The UN Secretary-General Spokesperson Stephane Dujarric has stated that attacks against civilians are unacceptable, that they are keeping an eye on the accident situation, that they regret the news of innocent passengers being taken hostage, and that the passengers should be released as soon as possible, according to a foreign news agency.

However, Iran has also denounced the attack on a passenger train in Pakistan, stating that the Iranian government supports innocent civilians and that Tehran is adamantly against terrorist attacks against passengers.

Innocent individuals, including women, children, and the elderly, were taken captive in Balochistan, according to an Iranian embassy spokesperson. Violent acts against civilians and the disruption of vital communication infrastructure are heinous crimes against humanity.
