US launches: US Secretary of State Mark Rubio has announced that the US visas of all passport holders from South Sudan are being canceled immediately.
The decision is aimed at putting pressure on countries that do not cooperate in the repatriation of their citizens from the US.
Mark Rubio made it clear that if a foreign national is deported from the US, his country is obliged to take him back. However, the interim government of South Sudan violated this principle, on which this strict step has been taken.
He said that now new US visas will not be issued to South Sudanese citizens. The US government says that if South Sudan fully cooperates with the US, this policy can be reviewed.
Mark Rubio said, “South Sudan should stop taking advantage of the US, and understand its international obligations.
