Eid-ul-Fitr: Egypt’s National Institute for Astronomical and Geophysical Research has predicted that Ramadan will last 29 days and the last fast will be on March 29 (Saturday), while Eid al-Fitr is likely to be on March 30 (Sunday).
According to Egyptian experts, the Shawl moon is likely to be sighted in about 30 cities around the world on March 29, including Mecca, Medina, Riyadh, Ankara, Tehran, Muscat, Karachi, London, Moscow and Ottawa. Contrarily, according to Ibrahim Al-Jarwan, chairman of the Emirates Astronomical Society, Eid could be on March 30 (Sunday) or March 31 (Monday). He says that the Shawl moon will be sighted on March 29 at 2:58 pm (local time), but since the moon will be only 3 hours old by the time the sun sets, it may be difficult to see the moon. If this happens, Eid will be celebrated on March 31 (Monday).
