According to foreign media reports, Turkish President Recap Tayyip Erdoğan had a special telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump on Sunday. The Turkish presidential office said that President Erdoğan supported US President Trump’s actions to end the Russia-Ukraine war.

President Erdoğan stressed the importance of joint US-Turkish efforts for stability in Syria and also called it necessary to finalize the purchase of F-16 aircraft from the US.

Contrarily, President Donald Trump and Russian President Putin may talk on the phone this week, after which there is hope for real progress in ending the Russia-Ukraine war.

US President Trump’s representative Steve Witkoff told US media in an interview that the meeting with the Russian president last week was positive, Ukraine-Russia differences have decreased, and President Putin agreed with Trump’s philosophy.

He said that President Trump wants an end to the Russia-Ukraine war. The US negotiating team will meet with Ukrainian and Russian delegations this week.
